The Economic and Financial Education for Life (CMEEF) is the Mexican organization whose mission it is to support the continuous improvement of the financial and economic culture of the citizens.
The CMEEF , together with all its allies and partners, seeks to trigger the formation of centers of economic and financial education that support teacher training of teachers, from entry level to high school. The CMEEF offers a variety of teacher development resources and certifications. In doing so, they promote “Active E-learning,” a non-linear approach to learning, where students make choices and follow different educational paths. Active Learning refers to a pedagogical approach where users must play roles, simulate reality, write, decide, and take and active play in their learning. Any action the user takes in a virtual environment can become an active learning method. This implies that presentations should not follow linear forms only, but branch to allow learners to explore different options, including the possibility of making mistakes.
CMEEF uses Living Actor™ avatars for courses they will be launching for middle school and high school students in Mexico City, Mexico, for CMEEF and National Autonomous University of Mexico certification. According to Dr. Jaime M. Velázquez of CMEEF, “Living Actor™ avatars help us to make the content more vivid. Avatars are important in the sense that they can play different roles, they can help in presenting materials, in surprising the learner, or in motivating the topics.” Additionally, he says, “Their pedagogical role can take different forms—depending on the creativity of the content specialist, on the topic itself, and on the pedagogical strategy that the instructional designer decides on how to present the material.”
